Kamma’a Truffle refers to a desert truffle found in parts of the Middle East, particularly in Iraq. The name Kamma’a (also known as Kama’a) is used for a type of wild desert truffle that grows in the arid regions and is highly prized for its unique flavor and texture.

These truffles are not true truffles like those found in temperate regions, but they belong to the same family of fungi. They grow underground and are harvested primarily after rainfalls in desert areas. Kamma’a truffles are known for their earthy, nutty flavor and aroma, which is often compared to that of traditional European truffles but with a distinct regional twist.

In Iraq, Kamma’a truffles are often gathered in the wild during the rainy season and then used in various traditional dishes. They are often cooked with rice, in stews, or served alongside meats, adding a rich, earthy flavor to these meals. They can also be enjoyed raw or lightly sautéed, sometimes with olive oil and spices.

These truffles are considered a delicacy, and their unique, earthy flavor is highly valued in Middle Eastern cuisine.
