Baklava is a rich, sweet pastry made of thin layers of filo dough filled with chopped nuts and soaked in syrup, known for its flaky texture and aromatic sweetness.
Baklava
Ingredients syrup:
350 gram sugar
120 ml water
3 tablespoons rose water
2 tablespoons lemon juice
Ingredients Baklava:
1 pakket filo dough 470 gram
400 gram chopped pistachio (divided)
1 teablespoons cardamon divided
250 gram butter (part)
In a small pan add sugar and water, until all the sugar is disloved.
If any white foam appears remove with spoon. Add rose water and lemon juice mix well and set aside to cool down.
Cut the filo pastery to the size of your tray. Cover the pastry to stop it from drying.
Melt half of the butter or ghee,
Brush the bottom of your tray with butter/ghee. Add one sheet to tray then drip or brush some butter/ghee repeat this process until you have 12-14 sheets.
Add cardamon to the pistachio and mix well.
Spread 200 gram of pistachio on top of the filo pastry. Then layer another 6-8 sheets on top used butter/ghee in between each sheet.
Add the the rest of the pistachio spread evenly.
Finish of with 8 layers of filo(butter each sheet.
With a sharp knife cut your baklava to any shape you like
Melt the rest of the butter and spread on top of the whole tray make sure the butter/ghee covers the whole pastry.
Take to preheated oven 200 C.
For about 20 minutes until golden brown.
Take out of the oven and pour the cold syrup over the baklava.
